University of the 3rd Age (U3A)

University of the 3rd Age (U3A) is a members-only organisation offering activities, excursions, clubs and classes for people who are in the third age of life; no longer in full-time employment.

St James Institute are pleased to host regular classes and activities for the U3A Bournemouth and U3A Christchurch branches. Regular activities include:

 

Table Tennis for improvers

U3A Bournemouth offer table tennis sessions on Tuesdays at 1.15 – 2.45pm and 3 – 4.30pm

Please note, no tuition is given, so these sessions are not suited to beginners. If you are a beginner and would like to learn the basics of the game, then why not try a session with the Merton Table Tennis club.

 

Vintage Brass Band

U3A Christchurch’s Vintage Brass Band hold their practice sessions at St James, on Mondays between 1.30pm – 5pm, split into two sessions; one for experienced players and one for mixed abilities.

 

Let’s Dance

A U3A Christchurch-run dance class that teaches the basics of 10 different dance styles. Classes are held Wednesdays, 2 – 4pm, in the main hall.

Other ad-hoc activities include drama group and educational lessons, such as computing classes.
